We appreciate that after an incident has occurred that it can be quite unsettling when it comes to the completion of the paperwork. Understanding the process makes this much simpler and the following downloads will help to provide you with an insight into what is required.
Note: Umpires are required to send the forms to the West Area Disciplinary Officer within 72hrs.

Umpire Development Pathway
We are increasingly looking to grow and develop our team of umpires within the County. Without umpires hockey is not possible so all Clubs need to encourage and support new and existing umpires.
Please actively try to identify candidates and get them onto a level 1 umpire course organised by England Hockey which is booked online through the HA website. If there is not a suitable course organised please get in touch so we can add you to a waiting list and keep you updated.
Newly qualified Level 1 Club Umpires (unassessed) can start umpiring within limitations. These matches are limited to some lower tier league fixtures (see league handbook for qualifying tiers) and cup matches alongside Assessed Level 1 umpires (or higher). After a minimum of 4 matches umpires can be assessed by a Level 1 umpire assessor to become a Level 1 Club Umpire (assessed).
There already several umpires in the county who have completed the umpire developer course, who then mentor our developing umpires to help increase their skill level and develop confidence. If you are interested in becoming part of the team of umpire developers there is an online course you can do costing £10, which you access by signing into the hockey hub on the England Hockey website.
New online Umpire Education Module
Please take a look at the England Hockey website where you’ll see a new online training module on decision communication is now available. The module is intended for new and inexperienced umpires and combines quite a number of video clips with some clear, concise guidance and explanation. Following the successful completion of a short test, users can download a certificate of awareness. This is a useful tool for all umpires so please publicise this facet as appropriate within your club.
Rules, education (including videos) and testing is now available on the Hockeyhub so feel free to register and use the learning aids available.
