First steps of returning to play

First steps of returning to play
Further to the government announcement on 10 May and subsequent updated guidance issued on 13 May, England Hockey can now update on the initial implication for hockey in England. England Hockey will continue to follow both government and Public Health England advice. Timings of any changes to the circumstances for hockey will always be led by government advice during Covid-19 restrictions. Whilst there are the first steps for returning to play, we would encourage everyone to firstly consider the health of themselves and others.
For further information please see attached documents or the news item on the England Hockey website
You’ll probably all have noticed that the government has increased the size of groups that can now meet (socially distanced of course). Sport England have updated their messaging here: https://www.sportengland.org/how-we-can-help/coronavirus/coronavirus-what-happens-next#your_questions_answered
When the government guidance is available on this latest announcement England Hockey will update their messaging accordingly.
Umpiring
As part of the Lets Stick Together webpage we shared with you in the last week or so, we’ve launched a series of free and paid for online sessions, for umpires and aspiring umpires, to learn umpiring ahead of when we are able to re-start hockey in England.
The free sessions cover a range of topics from ‘how to build confidence as a new umpire’ to a ‘Q and A evening with Frances Block, Olympic Umpire’.
The paid sessions are courses designed for people looking to start out on the umpiring pathway, through to Level 1 Unassessed, or umpire developer courses for those looking to support umpires at a club level. We can also share that the cost of the Level 1 course is now at a reduced rate of £30.00 due to the lack of pitch time available in this current delivery model.
To book onto any of the above courses please go to the Hockey Hub - https://hockeyhub.englandhockey.co.uk/officiating-offer
Crowd Funding
Sport England have set up a dedicated Crowdfund Sport page. Here people can find useful advice, guidance and case studies on sports projects, as well as that list of the upcoming webinars again.
