Time to Listen Workshop

Posted by Glayne Price on 19 August 2019

  • Monday 21 October 2019 – The Victoria Inn, Victoria Road, Roche, St Austell PL26 8LQ or if you can't make the Cornwall workshop then you may be able to attend the Devon version.
  • Monday 11 November 2019 – Sports Park, University of Exeter EX4 4QN

All Workshops are from 18.30 – 21.30 hrs.

Time to Listen (TTL) is a three hour interactive workshop, developed by the NSPCC’s Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU) which has been adapted to be specific to hockey.  ALL Welfare Officers should attend this workshop to update their skills and knowledge of Safeguarding in regards to hockey.  The certificate should be updated every three years in order to keep up with current legislation.

Time to Listen attendance by the CWO is a compulsory element of ClubMark accreditation.

The workshop is aimed at Club Welfare Officers (CWO) and people who have a designated welfare role in their County or Region .  It is good practice for the CWO, or someone from the club/association, to attend this workshop especially if you have U18 players.  It is recommended that a second Club Official is also trained as a deputy.

Cornwall Hockey Association are offering a 'BOGOF' on this workshop – candidates will need to book online and then the club claim the £20 back from CHA post workshop and via Treasurer Simon Fry.

The workshop is designed to give confidence and support in the CWO role and there will be plenty of opportunities to talk to other Welfare Officers to share experiences and good practice.  For further details please use this link to the England Hockey website.  The cost is £20 per delegate.

Booking a Workshop place is now online through the HockeyHub (as with coaching and umpiring courses/workshops).  Places are limited to 16 for each Workshop and we advise early booking to avoid disappointment.  As this is a new system for Time to Listen Workshops, if you experience difficulty with the booking process please contact safeguarding@englandhockey.co.uk in the first instance.

If you have any queries please contact England Hockey Administrator, Jenny Mitchell.

Thanks
