U13 Boys Make Regionals

Thursday 21st March 2019 - Regional Finals @Milfield (U13 Boys)

After an extremely successful County Tournament, the team went on to play at the Regional Finals, knowing it was going to be an extremely hard competition we had nothing to lose and could only perform to the best of our ability. The competition was split into 3 groups and with us winning the County Tournament we were put into a tough group, facing Claysmore, Exeter School, The Elms and Cheltenham College.

With a well organised and prepared warm up the boys were ready to go! Playing probably the hardest team in the group first, Cheltenham, the intensity was insane, the boys picked up on this straight away and give all they could and were unfortunate not to get the result. They lost this game 2-4.

Going into the second game, we were more aware of the standard right from the start. The boys battled hard and had a number of opportunities but didn't finish their chances. Exeter had one break and scored with only 10 seconds left on the clock. After having all the possession this result was not what we deserved but unfortunately that is sport!

With 2 games to go it was still all to play for, getting a win in the last 2 games, would mean we could still qualify as the highest runner up within the 3 groups. The Elms was our next challenge. The boys had a point to prove after just missing out on the last game. Putting all of their energy and battling with all their might in this game, they got the win, 4-0! What a fantastic game, they certainly deserved that...hard work certainly beat talent in that one!

With one game to go the boys were tiring and after using all their energy up in the last game this game against Claysmore just got the better of them, they had the skill, but Claysmore were quicker to the ball, and their fresh legs completely took over our boys tired legs! A 2-0 Loss. The boys played absolutely fantastic throughout the day and I was exetremely pleased and proud of their attitude and performance. They were a credit to Truro School and in representing the County.

Well Done Lads!

A huge thank you to Marcus Alleyne who travelled to Milfield to Umpire our games, on behalf of the school, the lads and myself, it was much appreciated.
